Wow! What a Year So Far, Huh?

The title of this post says it all.

It’s been almost 10 months since my last post on this site. Why that is, is the subject of another post and for another day. When I last posted in 2019, I had no idea that 2020 could or would bring the carnage and crap we Americans have seen in the last ten months.

Our government officials have mismanaged our pandemic response to the point that more than 212,000 Americans have died from this disease. The President has the disease and accepts no responsibility for the economic and society fallout from his failure to protect our citizens.  Racial and social injustice is sadly becoming accepted as the norm.

So, how do we fix this?

We fix it by voting. We fix it by not assuming our preferred candidate is a lock to win without our vote or assuming that our vote doesn’t matter. In 2016, less than 20,000 people determined who won the Presidency. Those 20,000 people in four states set us on our current path with our current leaders. Voting is important!

So why do I say this now and not on November 3rd which is election day? Because people are already voting. I have already voted! People are already deciding if our Republic is worth saving. It is and as the late Congressman John Lewis said, “The vote is the most powerful nonviolent tool we have.” It is up to us to use this tool to make the change we want to see in the world. Remember we are always one election away from losing this tool forever.

Vote like your life depends on it… because in some cases it just might.
