Update to My Must Read Web Comics List

It’s been about four years since I lasted noted a couple of web comics that are on my “must-read” list.  All of these are worth you taking a good long look.

Carbon DatingCarbon Datingis one of those web comics that I found by accident and found myself continuing to read because of a smart series of comics on herd immunity and the measles vaccine.  The author, Kyle Sanders, is smart and articulate and wastes little time making his point. Carbon Dating is an acquired taste because it challenges pseudoscience and its practitioners, but smart strips, and this is one, should do that, anyway.

If you like Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal, you’ll like Carbon Dating.

Wilde Life is one of those strange (yes, I chose that word on purpose) comics that grabs you by the ankles and won’t let go. It’s a tale of ghosts, were-wolves and a guy named Oscar who is trying to make sense of it all.  Wilde Life is the latest offering from Pascalle Lepas, of Zap! fame.  She has created a comic that doesn’t take itself too seriously, but is very serious about telling us this tale of the supernatural. When you have a comic that takes place in an Oklahoma town named Podunk, you know you’re in for a treat.

I confess that Retail is one of my favorite comics because it touches on a subject of which I am very familiar.  At one point in my life, I worked “retail” in a store very similar to the one in the comic, except in my case, the store only sold computer software.

Retail tells the story of Marla, a store manager at Grumbel’s Department Stores. She has dreams of opening her own store one day, but until that day occurs, she and her staff have to deal with Grumbel’s executive management and customers. Between the two, Marla and her staff of employees bring the humor every day.
