Fandom is a marvelous thing. It has its own sense of what’s right and wrong. If the story doesn’t go the way that the fans think the story should go, they’ll write their own stories (fan fiction) to correct the wrong. Or if they like something a great deal, they’ll do everything they possibly can to keep it going. That’s particularly true in the case of the Doctor Who Fan Orchestra.
The Doctor Who Fan Orchestra is an online collaboration in celebration of Murray Gold’s music. Murray Gold is responsible for the musical score of the current Doctor Who TV series. The selection below is a mix of 316 submissions from 234 individuals, ranging in age from 10 to 60, and who are located in at least 24 different countries across the world.
I share this because this achievement – this collaboration – is a testament to fans wanting to get involved in something they enjoy. The video below is a musical “suite” from the Doctor Who episode, The Impossible Astronaut with all of the music composed by Murray Gold and arranged for this effort by Stephen Willis.
The music is a joy to listen to and it is obvious that the orchestra members had fun, as many of them are dressed as characters from the episode. Enjoy this, because I certainly did.
