Over the past 13 years, on Thanksgiving, I would wish all who view my blog a joyous and somewhat fattening holiday; and make a reference to the “WKRP in Cincinnati” TV episode where the world discovers that domesticated turkeys can’t fly.
For six years, starting in 2010, as part of my Thanksgiving Day post, I would include the speech that Lt. General John F. Kelly, USMC, gave on Veterans Day 2010. This was two days after he was notified that his son 2nd Lt. Robert Kelly had been killed in Afghanistan. It was a stirring speech that idealized Marine Corps values.
I’m changing the routine this year. This year I am including former President Barack Obama’s 2011 Thanksgiving Day message as the central core message of my post. It is a call for unity and gives thanks to the brave Americans across the globe who are on watch defending our way of life. May God bless them all and may you, who view this post, have a joyful Thanksgiving with family and friends.
