For three years I have complained about the AMT in this journal. This year is no different. The inventors of this money grab should be taken to a public square and horsewhipped. Their failure to index this tax for inflation is a crime. It’s a crime that punishes the middleclass taxpayer.

I’ve already voted (absentee) for the California primary. I am distressed that this great state relies so much on Indian Gaming to balance its budget. Yet, it is in such a fiscal hole that without a massive tax increase or the continued generosity of the Native Americans (which is ironic), the state would be broke.

Shrove Tuesday is this coming Tuesday (Super Tuesday). Normally IHOP serves free pancakes on that day to benefit the Children’s Miracle Network. IHOP was afraid voting would keep people out of their restaurants, so they asked the Governors of 15 states to move Super Tuesday to February 12th. I am pleased to say that common sense prevailed and IHOP will instead serve free pancakes on 12 February.
