Snow Lotus Flower (Lucid Dream) is Superb Drama

Hiding in your Netflix queue, is a very good 8 episode offering from South Korea entitled, Snow Flower Lotus aka Lucid Dream. It’s a love story, it’s a reincarnation story, it’s a mock historical drama and it’s excellent.

Snow Flower Lotus aka Lucid DreamLee Soo Hyun,  the CEO of a gaming company, has an ominous recurring dream about a woman from 1,000 years ago that he uses as the basis for an online game he calls “Lucid Dream.” When Han Yun Hee, a part-time employee on leave from art school, reads the game’s script, she becomes unsettled as it matches the recurring dreams she is having of a life 1000 years before.

For reasons she doesn’t understand and can’t explain, she finds herself drawn to her boss, who is engaged to another woman. To complicate matters she had to dress as a man in order to get (and keep) the job at the gaming company. Her boss is confused by his feelings for her, dressed as a man, but is convinced after seeing her artwork that they shared a past life together.

It’s hard to say more without giving away the entire story. There are times when you’ll find yourself yelling at the characters because they aren’t solving their problems fast enough. However, I’m not sure how fast anyone would realistically walk up to a stranger and say, “You and I shared a life together a 1000 years ago. Let’s reconnect.”  This show has a fabulous soundtrack that will haunt you long after the program has finished. It is what I have come to expect from South Korean TV drama.

Snow Lotus Flower (Lucid Dream) is on Netflix with English subtitles and needs to be in your queue.
