Over the last three years, my posts on this site have been sporadic at best. I’ve attempted to increase the frequency of my postings, but without success (or much enthusiasm).
Part of the reason for not regularly posting is the current political climate. If I posted my thoughts in proportion to the rate in which the political environment infuriates me, my blog would be nothing but rants and tirades and that’s not who I am. That’s who I refuse to be.
In early 2017, I started a semi-political blog called Ashnotes, but as I said a year later when I took the site off-line, “…I underestimated the rate at which those in political power could spew lies and, sadly, quickly burned out trying to rebut the untruths.”
When I first started this site, I literally posted about everything and anything that crossed my mind; whether it was a review of a movie or a TV show or a political opinion or anything in between. I did not start self-censuring myself until I realized that I could end up turning my blog into a bitter diatribe that even I wouldn’t want to read if I focused only on the current political atmosphere and how it made me feel. So I stop writing and became unhappy that my voice on my own website was silenced.
Hence, this post. I’m not sure that I will resume twice a week posting any time soon, but I’m certain of this: From this point forward, I will write whatever’s on my mind – when it is on my mind and post it here.
