You will never hear or see me tell anyone that “a movie rocks.” But Iron Man 2 does exactly that.
It has been more than three decades since I last picked up a comic book, but the excellent script by Justin Theroux and the superb direction by Jon Favreau made me feel like a kid again, unable to wait to turn the page. Man, I loved this movie.
Was Mickey Rourke a villain to remember? You’re darn right he was. He didn’t create a character that will be as memorable as Heath Ledger’s Joker in the “The Dark Knight,” but let me tell you, his character was scary enough to perhaps get him another Oscar nod.
Did Don Cheadle make me miss Terrence Howard? Yes, but it wasn’t because he wasn’t trying. Sadly, I will always remain convinced that Howard was the perfect “Rhoadey” and I wish he could have stayed with the project.
This movie seemed like a perfect wrap up of the film series and implied (at least to me) that there won’t be another Iron Man movie for some time to come. That is okay with me. Marvel Studios has done everything right with the Iron Man series. DC Comics could take lessons from them.
