How to Spend $100 Million

Most of us will never have the opportunity to make $100 million. In fact, most of us don’t know anyone capable of paying us $100 million, but that is beside the point.

The Philadelphia Eagles Football team earlier this year signed quarterback, Michael Vick to a six-year $100 million contract. While that is an obscene amount of money for anyone, Vick will only be the third highest paid NFL  player behind Tom Brady of the New England Patriots and Peyton Manning of the Indianapolis Colts. I will be fair and wait until the Lombardi Trophy is awarded to the Super Bowl winner before I will say whether or not the Eagles got their monies worth.

But it begs the question, what else can you buy with $100 million? Well, here’s five things off the top of my head:

  • $100 million would buy 19 seasons of Michael Vick’s work at his 2010 contract rate.
  • $100 million would buy 3,846,154 instant video downloads of Doctor Who Season 6 from Amazon.com.
  • $100 million  would reduce the federal deficit by .007874%
  • $100 million  would buy you 6% of the Dallas Cowboys and 25% of the San Diego Padres Baseball Club.
  • and finally, $100 million  would buy you relatives that you didn’t even know you had, including me – your new favorite cousin!
