About Hillary Clinton’s Accomplishments

Hillary Clinton during 1st Presidental Debate

Back in September 2015, the Daily Kos published an article detailing Mrs. Hillary Clinton’s accomplishments in response to a challenge issued by then Republican primary candidate, Carly Fiorina.

Ms. Fiorina famously stated, “If you want to stump a Democrat, ask them to name an accomplishment of Mrs. Clinton.” No doubt, that this is a great sound bite, but it’s not much of a challenge as the Daily Kos proved. The article provided a formidable list of 39 personal and professional accomplishments for Mrs. Clinton since she graduated from Wellesley College in 1969.

While her list is long, here are ten that jump out at me immediately and again thanks to the Daily Kos for compiling the list:

1. Co-founded Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families.

2. Former Law Professor at the University of Arkansas School of Law.

3. As the First Lady, worked with Senators Kennedy and Hatch to increase research funding for prostate cancer and childhood asthma at the National Institutes of Health.

4. As the First Lady, highlighted reports of an illness that affected veterans of the First Gulf War (now recognized as Gulf War Syndrome).

5. As the First Lady, initiated and shepherded the Adoption and Safe Families Act.

6.  Served on five Senate committees:
-Committee on Budget (2001–2002)
-Committee on Armed Services (2003–2009)
-Committee on Environment and Public Works (2001–2009)
-Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (2001–2009)
-Special Committee on Aging.

7.  As a U. S. Senator from New York led in investigating the health issues faced by 9/11 first responders.

8.  In November 2012, Secretary of State Clinton brokered a ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas.

9. Two-term New York Senator

10. Former US Secretary of State.

11. GRAMMY Award Winner – It’s noted that this one doesn’t benefit the public, but it is impressive nevertheless.

But to the bigger point, every one of Mrs. Clinton’s listed accomplishment benefited the general public in some manner. Every one of Mr. Trump’s accomplishments, as far as I can find, seemed to have benefited only him and his family. As an aside, I would welcome and will publish on this site any list of Mr. Trump’s verified accomplishments that benefited the general public.
