Every day, millions of people go to Google in search of information that they hope will help them make a buying decision. And a lot of times, they leave the site more confused than ever because of the number of web sites choices that Google provides.
Now, there may be hope for those of us who search the Internet for enough information to make an informed and intelligent decision before we buy. There’s a site called Decide.com that will help you sift through that information.
Decide.com will tell you whether or not the price you have been quoted for a new product is a good one or not and whether or not that price is likely to fall in the near future. Now there’s a disclaimer here. The site will also tell you that they have a 77% guarantee that their information is correct. However, that translates into being wrong 1/4 of the time. You have to make a decision as to whether or not you wish to trust the information that they provide. That said, the site provides invaluable pricing history on many major products including cell phones, tablets, TV, laptops, gaming consoles, etc. The site is free, but you can sign up and be alerted when the price of a particular item you want is available at the price you want.
Let me give you an example. Earlier this month I wanted to buy a flat screen TV to go in the master bedroom. I had narrowed my choices down to three models. I went to Decide.com and found several recommended purchase sites, pricing history and an opinion as to whether not the price would rise in the near future. The site information was just enough to help me break my indecision, settle on a model and purchase the model locally at a very good price. Again, this was my experience with the site and yours may differ. Nevertheless Decide.com is on my highly recommended short website list.
Fascinating! I will definitely keep this in mind when planning future purchases.
I wish I had known about this when I was buying my handphone – knowing that the newer model would be out in May instead of August would have helped a lot!
