As 2013 comes to a close, I decided that my last post of the year would be a personal one for me. It’s not a secret that I am a huge fan of the singing group – The Temptations. Their greatest hits were the soundtrack of my life and this post represents an opportunity to share the music of my youth with you. In past years, I’ve welcomed in the new year with Teena Marie, Fleetwood Mac and Gerry Rafferty. This year, I will welcome 2014 with the Temptations performing in 1983 at Harrah’s in Atlantic City. This version of the group consisting of Otis Williams, Melvin Franklin, Dennis Edwards, Richard Street and Ron Tyson put on an energetic hour-long show. Sadly, I’m not permitted to embed the Temptation’s concert on my website, but here is the link to a most entertaining show.
2013 was another year of personal change for me. It was my first full year of retirement and it was an eye-opener, financially and physically. But I survived it, just I intend to survive the many (I hope) years I have left. It is the soundtrack of my life that sustains me and along with a belief in a greater power than myself that keeps me moving forward. And I remain convinced that we must always look forward regardless of how dark things may seem because tomorrow will always be better than today.
My goal in 2014 will be to pay more attention to the music of my life and less attention to the noise of the world.
Happy New Year! I’ll be back to a regular posting schedule starting January 28, 2014!
