All your life, you’ve been told that your true love will find you even if it takes multiple lifetimes. But what if the face of your love changed every day – every single day without fail. The Korean film, The Beauty Inside asks that very question and you will ponder the answer long after this movie is over.
Furniture designer Woo-jin wakes up in a different body every day. The age might change, the gender might change, even the nationality might change. He has no idea who he’ll be tomorrow, he just knows that tomorrow he’ll look different. Inside he’ll be the same person, but he’s always someone new on the outside. Every day he looks at a different face and body in the mirror and tries to cope.
One day he stumbles across a young woman named Yi-soo who is a buyer and saleswoman for an upscale furniture store. For him it is love at first sight, but he know that for her that can’t possibly be. He just knows that each time he transforms, he must figure out how to reunite with her.
How good is this body-hopping love story? Game of Thrones actress, Emilia Clarke, has been signed to play the lead in an upcoming American remake of this Korean film. This is a film that pleases and amuses and more importantly, makes you think. What is love, where does it begin and will you know it when you see?
The movie is available on Netflix and Amazon and it’s a great film for a lazy Sunday afternoon.
