Last month, I said that once my web host finished with his service upgrades, I’d upgrade my website. Well, he finished last weekend and the result was that the back end of my blog web site was completely hosed. I don’t blame my host as much as I blame myself for not planning for the upgrade the same way I would plan for an upgrade to the operating system of a computer.
The long and short of this sad epistle is that I had to completely tear down and rebuild the blog website from backups. The saddest part of this saga is that the user login database was lost. So if you previously logged in and left a comment on my site, you’ll have to login again one more time (recreate your account) to leave a comment. The good part is that the previous user names and comments were retained in the backups.
The bottom line is I can now move (slowly) toward upgrading my web presence and I can only hope there won’t be too many more setbacks on this road. ~ Bill
