On June 7, 2016, history was made in the United States. A little more than 100 years after women got the right to vote in this country, a major political party has nominated a woman for the office of President of the United States. Whether she wins in November is not as important as the fact that Hillary Clinton secured the nomination and will be the de facto head of the Democratic Party after the July convention in Philadelphia.
Mrs. Clinton has an impressive resume of public service as a two-term Senator from New York and as Secretary of State and is well qualified for the office she seeks. But this post isn’t about endorsing her, it’s about acknowledging that this strong-willed woman broke the “glass ceiling” of politics and in doing so, has shown every little girl in America that they too can aspire to be the President of the United States.
This is a big deal. Since the founding of this country, a father could tell his son that he could be anything he wanted to be , including President of the United States. Now a mother can tell her daughter the same thing.
Congratulations, Mrs. Clinton. You did my granddaughters proud.
