Sundry Items for August

Sundry Items for August

Just a couple of thoughts that weren’t big enough to merit their own separate posts:

  • Doctor Who returns to BBC America on September 1, 2012 at 9PM. The Daleks, Weeping Angels (the best monsters since Alien) and the departure of the Amy and Rory promise to make this one of the best Doctor Who series to date.

  • HBO’s The Newsroom, written and produced by Aaron Sorkin, is one of the best dramas on TV today. The season one finale, The Greater Fool, aired this past Sunday and was some of the best 58 minutes on TV this year. Jeff Daniels, who should get EMMY consideration next year, along with a superb supporting cast make TV worth watching again.

  • Five year Ethan Ventresca is the drummer for his School of Rock band, Jester. Yup, you read that right, Ethan is 5 years old and is clearly one of the most talented musicians on the planet. Below is a link showing Ethan’s band covering Deep Purple’s “Smoke on the Water.” Frankly, Ethan is so good, he make the others young members of his band look… not so good. He should have a big future in music if he continues to pursue it. You can watch this musical genius on his own YouTube channel.
