According to radio evangelist, Harold Camping, Saturday 21 May 2011 will be the end of the world. “End” may not be the right word depending on your religion. According to Mr. Camping at 6 P.M. (not sure which time zone) earthquakes will signal the beginning of the rapture and Judgment Day.
Mr. Camping, in recent weeks, has been the subject of much ridicule for his prediction. But his prediction has brought renewed interest in another group. That group is the rock band, R.E.M. whose 1987 hit “It’s the end of the world as we know it (and I feel fine)” has seen more airplay in the last 3 weeks than in the last year.
Deciding I would post the video was a no brainer, but deciding which video was more of a problem. The original video is confusing and on this side of crappy, in my opinion, as you can see here. There is a live version of the song here.
However, I decide to go with the 1991 MTV unplugged version. It somehow appeals to me as something simple and fun. And something I hope to be able to laugh about on May 22, 2011 in case Mr. Camping is wrong (again).
My understanding of the start time is 6 PM local time in each time zone, starting at the international date line and working its way West.
That makes perfect sense….thanks.
