For the fans of Microsoft Windows Home Server, the news got worse. HP is dropping its primary WHS appliance, MediaSmart Server. Accompanied with the news last week that Microsoft will delete “Drive Extender” from its future WHS upgrade, VAIL, and McAfee’s announcement that it will drop anti-virus support for the OS, it is safe to say that for the home consumer, Windows Home Server is dead.
November was a very bad month for WHS and 2011 doesn’t look any brighter. Additional info can be found at HomeServerLand and at MSWHS.
