Alpha and Omega

Although, my daughter recommended that I see this movie, I have to admit that my feelings toward it are mixed. In comparison to other animated movies which came out this year, Alpha and Omega is crudely drawn (in comparison) with a predictable plot of boy and girl from opposite sides of the tracks fall in love.

Yet, the voice acting really makes this a movie to watch with your child or as my wife and I did yesterday, watch with a bag of hot popcorn and cold drinks.

There are two voice performances really worth singling out in this movie. Dennis Hopper, in his last performance, is wonderfully sinister as Tony, the alpha wolf leader of the eastern pack. It was a great farewell performance by the legendary movie actor. The other masterful actor was Vicki Lewis as Eve, wife of the western pack leader, Winston, portrayed by Danny Glover. She was scary good and just the one you’d want to be your mom if you lived in a harsh environment.

If you haven’t seen this movie yet, you should – if you can get a good matinee price (don’t waste your money on the 3-D version). Otherwise, wait until it comes out on DVD  on December 7, 2010. It will be a nice addition to a child’s video library.
