The Legend of Korra Finale

This Saturday, forget about that birthday or anniversary or luncheon date on your calendar because if you haven’t marked June 23, 2012 at 11:00 AM (E/P) on your calendar you will miss one of  the biggest events of the year.  On Saturday, 23 June at 11:00 AM, Nickelodeon will broadcast the two-part Season One, Book One finale of Avatar: The Legend of Korra.

The Legend of Korra has truly been one of the delights of the 2012 TV season on Nickelodeon.  The writing team of Michael Dante DiMartino & Bryan Konietzko have brilliantly told a story that has been entertaining and riveting.  We have watched Korra, the young avatar-in-training, learn patience and humility as she seeks to develop the maturity required to become the avatar the world expects. She has also learned that the price of failure can be extraordinarily high if others have to pay for your mistakes.

Even though this is the finale, it is not the end of the TV series.  Book Two will consists of 14 episodes and is scheduled for broadcast in the early fall. The Legend of Korra has been a treat with its excellent writing which  has involved the fans as we all try to solve the mystery of who is Amon or what will happen to Beifong.

We’ll have to tune in on Saturday to find out the answers to these and other questions and you can bet the answers were probably in plain sight. You can also bet that there will be questions that won’t be answered until the next season. I look forward to the finale and Book Two.
