Rawhide on Cable Channel AMC

Eric Fleming, Sheb Wooley & Clint Eastwood in Rawhide

A year and a half ago, fans of the 1950’s TV show, Rawhide, rejoiced when the Starz Encore Western Channel resurrected the TV series. The joy turned into moans when the show disappeared from the schedule in early January 2013.

Well, on 20 April 2013, the  U.S. cable network, AMC, who had previously acquired the rights to the series made it part of their Saturday programming block. Viewers who are used to not seeing commercials when Starz aired the series are in for a bit of a shock when they watch the show on the commercial-laden AMC. But they will quickly get over it as they watch (or re-watch) Eric Fleming and Clint Eastwood make screen magic together as trail boss Gil Favor and ramrod Rowdy Yates.

While I’m sorry that the Starz Western Channel no longer broadcast this great show, I’m pleased that AMC picked the series. My Saturdays have just gotten a little brighter. Head ’em up and move ’em out!
