Another Rambling Post

Lots of little things – nothing major; hence a rambling post.

1. Before there was Justice League and fanfics, for me there was Microsoft Flight Simulator. When I am not writing or working, I am flying this game. The reality is MS FS is the bane of my existence, but I will not give it up. The newest service pack for the latest version will be released at the end of the month. (Yes, I know that kind of stuff.) What I have now is flyable. I hope the service pack makes it more enjoyable or this might be the last version I buy. (Note that I said might and not will. This is my crack.)

2. There was a great opinion piece in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution by Jay Bookman on the shootings at Virginia Tech. I would link to it, but the AJC makes it darn near impossible to link its editorials directly. The piece is entitled: “Easy Answers Ring Hollow.” If you get a chance, read it.

3. Years ago there was program on TV called “Reboot.” It was so far ahead of its time in the use of CGI, it’s a crying shame. With stories written by DC Fontana (Star Trek), Dan DiDio (DC Comics) and Marv Wolfman (Teen Titans), this was a smart and really enjoyable show that got a final episode that was a great wrap up. (JLU – take note). Super characterizations made this show work and the characters unforgettable. I still miss it!

4. I just saw the movie, The Wild, on cable. It reminded me in spots of the Lion King, but I enjoyed it more than that movie. Loved the line from the wildebeest toward the end: “Top of the food chain.” It’s a great homage to White Heat and Cody Jarrett’s line: “Made it, Ma! Top of the world!” Still, I did have problems with parts of the film. A squirrel in love with a giraffe? This is unbelievable. Next thing you know, there will stories about aliens in love with humans. Oh wait. There already are. 🙂
